E' detta anche "Torre del Branca", dal nome del podestà di Viterbo, Corrado di Branca da Gubbio, che la fece costruire nel 1295. Secondo la leggenda da una finestra di questa torre si affacciò la Bella Galliana per mostrarsi a Giovanni di Vico che, pazzamente innamorato di lei, aveva messo d'assedio la città per portarla via con sè. I viterbesi tuttavia si difesero strenuamente e alla fine Giovanni accettò di ritirarsi a patto che la fanciulla gli venisse mostrata un'ultima volta; ma appena la fanciulla si affacciò dalla torre un soldato nemico la colpì con una freccia uccidendola. La torre è stata restaurata nel 1979, in seguito a un crollo dell'arco provocato da una scossa di terremoto. Durante i lavori è stata rinvenuta l'epigrafe ne ne ricorda la costruzione, oggi murata nella facciata, e una freccia infilzata tra le pietre della struttura.
